Hi Pat, I just wanted to say thanks for your two seminars I attended recently at Songwriter's Summit 2012 in Sydney. Lessons I've learnt from those sessions made the price of attending worthwhile on their own. Hopefully, I'll be able to attend more of your workshops/courses in the future
Best Regards

Hi Pat,
I just wanted to let you know that a small group of us has created a private online forum and that we're presently working our way through the exercises in your latest book. Today (Feb 18, 2012) marks Day in Challenge #3 (Challenges #1 and #2 are completed). The exercises are BRILLIANT; absolutely BRILLIANT. So far it's been an incredible journey watching our writing develop. Thank you for putting this book together!

Hi Pat, wanted to let you know about the online writers group I have created on Facebook called Songwriters Anonymous. The group practice object writing everyday and members have found it works for turning on the writer within.

Hi Pat,I just wanted to thank you for your incredible, deep, thoughtful, rich, creative point of view. I met you in Pasadena at a workshop 1997-98? then I got your books at Berklee bookshop years later and I can tell my songwriting has gotten a lot better since then, though a little traumatic in the beggining asuming so many things to keep in mind. Thanks. sincerely, Daniel

Thanks so much for sharing all this knowledge, has been a helpful tool for writing with a new perspective. Just everything seems clearly and at the same time I see a new door open of possibilities for writing.

Hi Pat,
I studied with you at Berklee in the 90's...sorry I had to pause and mourn my youth! After 20 years of songwriting I still reference your books and class material from Berklee. You are the one who sparked my love of a good story through song and I have to just simply say, "Thank you"
Hope to catch a seminar if you come close to DC!

Hey Pat! Just wanted to say thanks again for all your teachings. If it wasn't for you this first CD that's soon to be out would not have been possible. May your teachings be the light for new writers to follow. Thanks again.

Pat, you make songwriting accessible to everyone with your work! Your books and videos has really helped me connect my communication studies with my songwriting, and made me realize how good craft and good artistry are intertwined. Keep doing it! Best Wishes

HI PAT ........
Thanks for your kind words. Turned sixty
on Jan 1st. The way I see it is this! NOW is the best time to write and play and I have a lot of songs that may or may not ever get to their rightful place but it's a blast trying. It's the loving of the game! It's who we are as writers. It is our "purpose". To WRITE
is to discover one's self through the universal feeling behind each word.
Looking forward to Reo songwriting 2011.I am stoked about my new songs and
lyrics folk, country, pop, jazz, love playing and writing. Read your new book
on Lyric Writing and it was very instructional. Thanks for teaching
so many of us the basics of songwriting.
I'm in good hands.

Thank you for a really engaging time. When I needed
some real teachers. You rose to the occasion. I didn't
think that I would be so taken by your words. To
feel there are souls like you who understand the relationship between language and space and
nowness is an honour. At 60 years the search is on
for the song I never wrote. Say hi to mark s and family. Coming this way ? Catch my e-mail address

Pat, this is my virginal run with your material. I've been playing primarily bass guitar for over 40 years. Half of that time, I've been writing songs. I've learned more in just the beginning pages of your WBL 2nd addition book than I have in all my years as a writer. I plan on taking your online course or the 2 day seminar. If these few beginning pages of your book is just a taste of whats to come, it will bring me closer to perfecting my craft. Looking forward to taking your seminar in the tri-state area. Thanks for the education....Regards....Frank C.

Hey Pat,
I am an American songwriter living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I have played music for a while but am just branching out in my music career. I am in the process of finishing an album I started in January. I just wanted to say how thankful I am for the material you have produced! I first came in contact with your offerings from the online lyric course I took with Andrea Stolpe. Your books, especially the Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure, have been such a help to me in my development. I hope you meet you and thank you in person some day. Until then I just wanted to remind you how many people your teaching is helping. Thanks so much!

Pat, it's been almost 2 years since I had the pleasure of attending a workshop with you, Kathy M. and Stephen. Not a day goes by when I don't think about what I learned and how much it has helped me grow as a songwriter. People seem to enjoy cover songs I sing now but love the ones that I proudly call my own. Thanks agian! You are a such a great teacher and have done so much for so many.

Getting Songs Recorded in Nashville

Being a experienced writer people are always asking, "How do I get better?. I just tell them to get Pat's book "Writing Better Lyrics" and do what it says. To get your songs recorded they need to stand out from the pack. Nashville is full of "GOOD" songs but they only record "GREAT" songs. I know, I know, not all songs recorded in Nashville are great but those writers have a track record and you don't. Your songs have to stand out. Make them great.

I attended the January 09' workshop at the American Film Institute. Most recently I saw you but had no time to speak with you at in the Weston, LAX just in November. You were leaving the resturaunt mid afternoon on Sunday and looked directly at me and I smiled... Esther and I will be attending again January 30 & 31, 2010' in L.A.
Currently, I'm taking critique classes in Seskins home in Richmond, CA and I advance daily resulting from regular study and the constant writing and showcasing of material at various venues here in the west. Thank You Pat, for all you do for the writers and creators of music! Your gifts and ideas are priceless and treasured by all whom I've met gaining from your instruction.
